Unfinished shoot 'em up game

I started working on something using the graphics found here:

I abandoned the project quickly because of boredom, but maybe the code might be interesting for someone.

Thanks Marcus.......good to see how you start to build the structure of the program. 

I'm interested in seeing that you are only checking for game flags when they appear on screen - is this to improve speed, or is it for another reason - perhaps a more professional way of coding, by which I mean"good practice"?

For a game like this it felt simpler to use flags to tell the game: spawn a wave of 5 enemies when this row of tiles becomes visible. But ... I could have loaded and added all the "spawners" once and let them self activate when becoming visible Smile Adding every individual enemy in the tilemap editor wasn't an option because of the slow scrolling; new enemies wouldn't appear often enough.
