Board Game: ScoreFour
« on: October 01, 2014 »
Here's one for your grandkids. Get 4 in a row, as many times as you can before the board fills up.

Hi Rick.....this is curiously addictive.....however, placed a piece and others were added (as expected) but they included 4 in a row......picked up the yellow to the top right of the 4 yellow and they disappeared....the piece I picked up stayed where it was.....is that intentional?
Thanks - Kevin

You may have found a bug. I'll have to look at that. It's possible that the computer had just put one down. It only scores when you complete the row.

Very addictive indeed :) Never seen a game like it before either! I think I experienced the thing reported by K once too. Vertical row of four reds that didn't pop. Can I put it on naalaadeveloper now, or do you want me to wait until you've whacked the bug? I'll try to reproduce it a couple of times.

Edit  Yep, seen it a couple of times now. The computer generates a row of four. You can pop it by lifting up and putting back one of the pieces. Not exactly a dangerous bug.

I think I meant to do that. The computer should not make points for the human player. Go ahead and post it.

I decided that Kevin was right and fixed the little bugs that were in the program. I think it runs a lot smoother now.

Thanks, great game made better :)
Do you mind if I add an online highscore list in the naalaadeveloper.com version?

Go ahead and alter it if you want. That reminds me of a concept from another website called " Remixing". Everyone on this site was allowed to alter any program on the site and this resulted in some very much improved programs.

I made some more changes, only visual this time and only at test stage :) Thinking about adding some sort of character in one of the corner, reacting to your moves. Or would that make it too cute? For some reason, I'm imagining a cartoonish pirate captain ...

I also need to say, once again, that this game is very addictive! And I beat your score.

A pirate would work with jewel, coin and pearl pieces. The abstract things would go better with sone furry fantasy creature.. Anything but candy or fruit ;)
