Yeah, but I got to party crash your own lobby so you've already got evidence that it works :)

As I just wrote, next time it'll be much more interesting. Because, uh, you'll be able to co-op and shoot at stuff in a a 3d (raycasting) arena :)

Our avatars will be really cute, but lethal, in the next test:

I'm ashamed to say there's no new beta test this weekend. I'm still working on a "game prototype", but it's not finished yet. Currently multiple players can run around and see eachother in a raycaster arena. Enemies can spawn and be shot by everybody, but there's no goal yet.

It's really tricky to determine the minimum data to be exchanged and to decide what clients should handle themselves and not for the best game experience, but it's really fun to work on :)

I just wanna post a note, that I'm still working on this and have not died. I'm on my last week at work (very busy) before my vacation, then I'll finish up this game and library.

Wow this reminds me of an opensource p2p web app for NES games which I haven't tried yet.

Edit:

This is the experiment I talked about. There seem to be javascript standard libraries like webrtc which can be used for p2p multiplayer games as in this NES emulator: https://github.com/elhigu/deathmatch-massacre

I updated the library with some new functions and internal buffer overflow control (was a thing if you sent too much data at once, like 64k).
