An isometric demo from N6
#1
Hi, this is heavily based on the N6 isometric demo that Marcus produced some time ago - many thanks Marcus.

I have used the excellent Tilemap library for both level design, and collision resolution.

When started, the program will launch in isometric view. Should you wish to see the 2d tilemap view, press the "V" key once - press again, and you will return to the isometric view.

There are 3 choices to control the little wizard in isometric view (no choices in 2d view - just use the arrow keys). You press the "C" key to switch the control method - a short message on the right of the screen will tell you which method is active.
1 - use all 4 arrow keys to move
2 - use the up or down arrow key to move forwards or backwards, and the left and right arrow keys to change direction by 90 degrees each time they are pressed.
3 - default - the wizard will move towards where ever the mouse is placed in the isometric world. Hold down the left mouse button to pause movement.

All the best - Kevin.

Nicely done! The controls took a bit of getting used to, but that's me, not the game... lol
Looking forward to the "next level"... Moo Ha Ha Ha....

By the way... you are obviously VERY clever... I went over that level several times and did not find a single alien... Well hidden! Well done!

No, I don't think it's you Johnno......I have always been put off of isometric games because of the controls.....I have always found it so difficult to see which way the player is moving. Moving in the direction of the mouse cursor is the best solution I can think of at the moment, but I am very open to other suggestions if anyone can think of a better way to control the player.....

I have not dabbled with isometric games (edit or create) in the past so my advice is pretty much non-existent.... lol Switching to 2D used the cursor keys, maybe the same could be used for 'iso'? Your mouse idea seems to be interesting. Point with the mouse and perhaps the up-arrow key to move forward in that direction?

Hm, Norton complains a lot about your GIFs (...staticrun.app), claims they're into some phishing?

Way back in 1984 (6 years prior to Solstice), I had a ZX Spectrum computer in the UK. I had a game called Knight Lore, which is similar to Solstice, and I couldn't believe that a computer game could do the things that Knight Lore did:
(1038) Knight Lore - ZX Spectrum - YouTube

May be fun to try to do something similar to either of these games in N7.

Thank you for your security notification.
I have deleted permanently my staticrun account.

Herewith some results I got after I had checked the URL :

Result : Phishing

Kaspersky, Threat Intelligence Portal

Result : Good

Bitdefender, Check any URL for malware, fraudulent websites, or phishing schemes.

Solstice must have been heavily inspired by Knight Lore, they seem to share some mechanics!

I just went back to my "star fox" game, after solving some stuff in n7 polygon drawing. But now I'm tempted to jump on the isometric train Smile
