The circle-inside-polygon test looks interesting - I seem to recall that a similar routine was coded in an earlier NaaLaa version, and was really useful. We look forward to the game video. RE: Jam for All Basic Dialects #7 - kevin - 03-07-2026 Progress so far....just graphics, audio, menu, gameplay, intro, and 100 other things left to do

This attempt is really excellent!

RE: Jam for All Basic Dialects #7 - aurel - 03-08-2026 AI make this game very nice RE: Jam for All Basic Dialects #7 - Marcus - 03-08-2026 (03-07-2026, 04:34 PM)kevin Wrote: Progress so far....just graphics, audio, menu, gameplay, intro, and 100 other things left to do Looks awesome, like a 360° Missile Command! RE: Jam for All Basic Dialects #7 - Marcus - 03-09-2026 Added the physics for when one penguin smacks another penguin with a "weapon": Changing the range and effect for different weapons is very simple. And just now I wrote an editor for the ice floes. You draw polygons and create groups by marking the polygons with numbers. Groups will come off and sink (or float away) one by one (highest group number first), making the fighting area smaller and smaller. Next I probably need to program the AI, but the enemy penguins shouldn't be very smart; they just try to knock every other penguin off the ice floe. Or maybe I'll start with the 3d graphics ... RE: Jam for All Basic Dialects #7 - kevin - 03-09-2026 Looks like great progress......I'm looking forward to seeing the next update, but mainly looking forward to trying the finished game
RE: Jam for All Basic Dialects #7 - indru91112 - 03-12-2026 You guys are awesome. Now I want to make a game too... RE: Jam for All Basic Dialects #7 - Marcus - 03-14-2026 I'm not working as much on this as I should, life always gets busy during game jams. But I did an experiment with creating an ice floe mesh from a level file created with the editor. It will look better later on, this texture is generated in code. I gotta make some penguins and put them on the ice next. |
