Cool game. Those "spikey" things on the floor look kind of familiar... Now where have I seen those before?... lol

I will not go into the pros and cons of AI... Subject for another time... Anyway, I did a quick search on OpenGameArt and found this little sound effect...

J

Thanks for the sound effect, public domain right?

It's from OpenGameArt... the owner was not stated... Hmm... chances are it may or may not be... Best not use it. I will keep looking.

I found this site... https://sfxr.me/  and also  https://onlinesound.net/8bit-sfx-generator

Sorry for being absent, very busy times :/

Here's a big (21MB) download, if you want to try the first level of robowack 3: https://naalaa.com/tmp/robowack3.zip
  • Walk with WASD
  • Jump with spacebar
  • Hold left shift to run
  • Shoot with left mouse button
  • Use things with e
  • Press tab to view the map
  • Use 1 and 2 to swap between the pistol and the shotgun (if you find it)

If you pick a key up or pull a switch, questionmarks will be displayed on the map where doors have opened or shit happend.

Edit: The source code is not included, since it uses n7 stuff that hasn't been released yet.

Did you make it through the level, or should I make it easier? I lose all sense of difficulty when I work on games.

I'm re-using lots of stuff from Neon Breath, like the "battle" areas, as you probably can tell.

"Make it easier?" I do not think that is the way it's supposed to be done... lol Unless a game is created with a menu to select difficulty, pretty much most players, try their best to get through the game. A high score table is usually included to encourage those of us who struggle to complete the game, to have something to aim for... lol I would suggest that you leave the programmed difficulty "as is". It is not that I need games to be easier. I just have to learn how to play better... lol... How many levels are you thinking of creating?

I was thinking about making atleast 8 levels during my vacation, which starts in three weeks. So the first one shouldn't be too difficult Smile

I heard someone call the old boomer shooters "keycard mazes", and that's pretty much what this will be.

Well... I got as far as the room where robots appear, one after the other, and that's when I realised that I needed more the 5% health... I will not go into the carnage that followed... lol The soundtrack and lighting were ideal... added to the suspense... oh... by the way... I have developed a definite dislike for those spinning spiky things... ouch! I found that if I open a door, without going into the room, the robot's bullets, tended to strike the doorway most of the time. Open door; fire a few shots before the door closes. Sometimes I would get shot but mostly not... Moo Ha Ha Ha....

"Keycard maze"? First time hearing that one... The game reminds me of the old dungeon crawlers with elements of Wolf3D, but keycard maze, works as good as any... Still a cool game!

Enjoy your vacation... My advice... Take care; Take your time; Take it easy; Take me... lol

RW3 is shaping up to be an absolute gem ! The game's theme is both thrilling and immersive - set in a dungeon filled with evil robots and nasty traps, it instantly pulls you into its dark, mysterious world. I love the way the game lets you navigate between dark and light rooms; the lighting effects are spot on and really enhance the atmosphere. It's creepy, intense, and keeps you on edge in the best way possible.

The background music adds so much to the experience - it's haunting, suspenseful, and perfectly complements the tension of the gameplay. And those explosions ? Absolutely satisfying. The visual and sound effects are top-notch.

If this game is marketed well and launched online, I genuinely believe it could be a massive success. There's just so much potential here. I'm especially curious about what the final boss will be.  Will it be a robotic dragon, Dungeons & Dragon, or maybe a flying beast, How To Train Your Dragon ? And could there be a classic quest to rescue a princess from a tower ? The possibilities are exciting and there's still so much to discover.

All in all, RW3 looks amazing. Huge props to Marcus - you're doing an incredible job. Keep it up ! I'm more than willing to wait for the official release if this is what's coming. Five thumbs up !

Great game - I love the detail and sharpness of the graphics, particularly from a distance. It's a great achievement to do this, and maintain a very good frame rate. Really looking forward to the other levels.....
