RCBasic and N7 are what I use most. I was introduced to Naalaa during N6 (about 2017) and used it on and off (and still do) until the release of N7 about 2022 to this date.... RCBasic is my primary "go to" Basic since 2018 and currently moderate their forum.

I cannot recommend N7 and RCB high enough!

RCBasic has been around for many years. Any basic will become popular if it is advertised/promoted.

What are the advantages of RCBasic over other BASIC dialects?

Where to begin... RCBasic, like N7, has "tools" included in the package. eg: Nirvana2D and Serenity3D for creating both 2D and 3D games. RCBasic can also export to Windows, Linux and Android. Primarily, RCBasic is best suited for retro-styled 2D games. 3D, although installed, is still being developed.

Which type of game is very good for using RCBasic to make?

2D retro-style. eg: Mario etc... but not just retro... RCBasic, like N7, is a tool. Regardless of the tool used, the game is only as good as the coder's imagination. Which means... If you want a very good game, you will need a very good imagination....

It has been my experience to find a "basic" that you are the most comfortable with... and stick with it. "Basic swapping" is best suited for those who have not yet decided to commit. Find a good one and stick with it. If you find a "basic" that you enjoy using, the programs that you will make, will not feel like "work" (or a burden to make). Familiarity and time will produce experience and efficiency.

One thing to remember: If you are not having fun, then you are doing something wrong.... lol

Nirvana 2D is an application that has a Map, Tile and Sprite Editor. It will create the complete layout of a 2D game level. It will handle Tiles and Sprites. Standard and weird shape collision can be set for each tile/sprite. It will even handle camera positioning and layers.

Serenity 3D, much like Nirvana, is designed to create 3D levels. 3D mesh, materials and textures can be created and used to make levels.

I must tell you the truth... I have not used either program to make any games yet. Probably because I would be considered as "old school" and would prefer to make my own assets... unless I am pressed for time... lol  All that 3D stuff, for me anyway, is scary! I have enough difficulty with making 2D games... lol

Interesting question. Describing a game as "entertaining" is subjective. One person may think a game is fun and a more seasoned player would think it was "ho-hum". Our community is quite small and does not have a lot of games. Our website is still being "reworked" and there are no examples posted/displayed as yet. But, if you pop over to the forum and have a look through "Games" and "Projects and Works in Progress", you might spot a gem or two... lol

As RCBasic is Open Source, it will always be "free". Unless each author exports the game to a certain format (Windows, Linux or Android" then the game will run within RCBasic Studio.

Doesn't n00b have a game written in rcbasic up on Steam? I don't remember the name, just a vague memory of a youtube video.

... it maybe this one... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fB9JfkQA14E (13th Nov 2023)

No. I do not know if he finished it...

Apparently the game was made using a Game Engine that he wrote using RCBasic. I believe that the graphics were hand-made...
